Training
Substitute Teacher Training at CESA #1 is aligned with the re-written PI 34 legislation and provides training for:
- basic district and school policies and procedures
- age-appropriate teaching strategies, discipline, conflict resolution and classroom management techniques
- health and safety issues including handling medical emergencies
- techniques for starting a class
- the culture of schools and the teaching profession
- working with and without lesson plans
- working with children with disabilities, including confidentiality issues
In addition, training includes support for next steps, such as license application, employment, and professional networking. Substitute Teacher Training is a great way for schools/districts to grow existing support resources such as Paraprofessional Educators, Parent and Community Volunteers, and address staffing needs at the same time!
