Seeking a permit to teach in a district with an identified shortage area need?
Professionals who hold a Bachelors degree from an accredited college or university in Engineering, Math, Science, Computer Science, Art, Music or World Languages are eligible for this program.
These professionals must also have 5 years of experience in the subject area of their bachelor’s degree. This pathway is designed for school districts seeking to fill shortage areas with experienced content professionals.
How can we help?
Applicants for the Professional Teaching Permit (PTP) must successfully complete a minimum of 100 hours of formal instruction in the application of modern curricula in the subject area, from a Wisconsin DPI-approved alternative training program. We can help you fulfill that requirement through our Proficiency Based Licensure Program. Training is delivered in a blend of face-to-face and online instruction.
Employment verification is determined by the Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction, not the Proficiency Based Licensure Program.
CESA #1 PTP Program required admission documents:
- Completed application
- $100 non-refundable application fee
- Official copy of transcripts*
- Current resume
- 2 current letters of recommendation
*Official transcripts must bear the seal imprint and/or original signature of the college registrar and be submitted in an unopened envelope or sent electronically from the institution.
