CESA #1 Audiologists are licensed and highly trained professionals with expertise regarding the educational impact of hearing loss. CESA #1 educational audiology services are available to assist in the following activities for students who are hard of hearing/deaf or exhibit auditory processing deficits:
- Interpretation of audiological assessments for school personnel
- Determination of program placement
- Function as a member of the educational team to make specific recommendations for auditory and communication needs
- Provision of training to students in functional/adaptive skills in the classroom, including listening skills and ways to cope with hearing loss at school and at home
- Provide information on classroom acoustics, fitting and assistance with the use of personal assistive listening devices, and information about classroom amplification systems
Collaboration with schools, parents, teachers, special support personnel, and relevant community agencies and professionals ensures delivery of appropriate services. CESA #1 educational audiology services also provide access to discounted group rates when ordering audiology equipment. (Indicators 1, 3, 5 & 6)
