Special Education Administration/ Leadership

Special education program leadership itinerant services are available to assist public school systems and agencies with the delivery of special education services through planning, supervision, and consultation.

Through the Regional Services Network, leadership meetings will continue to address emerging and on-going issues of local, regional, state, and national concerns.

CESA #1 staff are available to provide the following services based on district and agency definition of need: 

  • assist in the development of the Local Performance Plan (LPP) and the preparation for the 20 Indicators, self- assessment, and other federal and state reports;
  • formulate and implement policies and procedures for new or revised programs for activities such as screening, placement, education, and training of students;
  • coordinate and monitor case management of special needs students;
  • provide program evaluation and review to ensure effective and appropriate programming for students;
  • assist in the interpretation of laws, rules, and regulations to staff and parents;
  • review and monitor local and grant budgets for appropriate distribution of costs;
  • contract with agencies for outsourcing needs;
  • and recruit, hire, and supervise special education staff.
