CESA#1 invites you to participate in a thought provoking conversation about race by attending Beyond Diversity I Training.
Beyond Diversity is a nationally known and presented powerful, personally transforming two-day seminar designed to help teachers, students, parents, and administrators understand the impact of race on student learning and investigate the role that racism plays in institutionalizing academic achievement disparities. Participants engage in a thoughtful, compassionate exploration of race and racism and grapple with how each influences the culture and climate of our schools. Participants practice using strategies for identifying and addressing policies, programs, and practices that negatively impact student of color achievement and serve as barriers for ALL students receiving a world-class education.
Many school districts and DPI have embarked on a journey of improving personal and system skills in the areas of race and ethnicity through Beyond Diversity training, which is conducted by the Pacific Education Group. This training is considered “Course 101” in this important equity leadership work and is essential for future planned trainings. Over 500+ staff in CESA#1 districts have already attended this training and past participants have found it personally challenging and rewarding. It has received great reviews statewide and across the country.
