Jennifer Townsend is an Educational Consultant for CESA #1 providing consultative services to various districts. These services have included observations with educational recommendations, direct instruction to educators on evidence based strategies, modeling instruction for staff with the student, co-observing with special educator providing insight, staff in-services on ASD related topics to target groups including administrative teams, related-service staff, special educators, general educators and paraprofessionals, participation in IEP development and team meetings, student interviews and direct student skill development, peer empathy workshops,and much more.
Prior to moving to Wisconsin, Jen worked in a non-public school system that provided special education services to students with autism and related disabilities. She has worked in the field for over a decade providing services in the school, community, and the home. Jen has received training in various evidence-based-methodologies that promote positive outcomes for both educators and students. She also has an extensive background in intensive home-therapy programming for students with autism and has worked with families to implement the most appropriate program for their child. Over the past year in the Southeastern region of Wisconsin, Jen has provided consultative services, participated in grant funded projects, served on a not-for-profit board of directors, and served on the education committee for the Autism Society in Southeastern Wisconsin. Jen has completed her Post-Masters certification in autism and pervasive developmental disabilities from the Johns Hopkins University, where she also received her Master's in Special Education for students with severe and profound disabilities.
